E.P.D.M. is a vulcanized rubber sheeting used in single ply roof applications.
E.P.D.M. is extremely resistant to UV degradation and has exceptional expansion and
contraction capabilities.
Large sheets of E.P.D.M. membrane are available up to 50' x 200', minimizing seams.
E.P.D.M. is available in .045 mil or .060 mil, polyester reinforced and more commonly
non-reinforced.
E.P.D.M. may be installed by ballasting, mechanically attaching or fully adhering.

COMMON DETAILS

BALLASTED
Insulation is loosely laid over the substrate

Large Sheets of EPDM membrane (up to 50'x 200') are loosely laid over the insulation.

The overlapping EPDM membrane seam is hand rolled for maximum adhesion.

1 1/2" washed river rock is installed as ballast.

MECHANICALLY ATTACHED
Insulation is installed and mechanically
attached to the substrate.

The 45 mil reinforced EPDM membrane is
mechanically attached to the substrate.

A butyl seam tape is installed.

The overlapping EPDM membrane seam is
hand rolled for maximum adhesion.

A completed mechanically fastened seam.

FULLY ADHERED EPDM
Insulation is installed and mechanically
attached to the substrate.

The EPDM membrane is set in place and building
adhesive is applied to both the EPDM membrane
and the insulation.

The EPDM membrane is rolled into place bonding the
insulation to the membrane.

The EPDM membrane is broomed down to
insure maximum adhesion.

A butyl seam tape is installed.

The overlapping EPDM membrane seam is
hand rolled for maximum adhesion.
